July 4th 2 - 7 pm Show runs through the 13th 2008, the Hide and the Mill Gallery. The people who brought you the best art gallery in Santa Cruz* are pleased to announce the second chapter in local lowbrow art history, The Six Degree Family : Two Steps forward. The Six Degree Family is an art collective originated by Hide Gallery Artistic Director Adrian Rasmussen, and this eclectic bunch represent some of the most talented and active artisans in our beach hamlet. It is, however, not exclusive to locals, and we are proud to include members of distant burgeoning art scenes, a few of which are able to join us for our last First Friday. |

Friday June 6th, 6:30-11pm, The Hide Gallery Presents new work by: Jameson Pruscia - "The Pruscia Company" His work is color, saturated and eye popping, with a range from figural cartooning to clean ornate designs. Jameson finds passion in repetition, like a modern day Thiebaud, but without the social commentary. His work is comforting due to their serial nature, something that is fresh and simple. For example, he will repeat an antique Damask print in a rich velvety crimson as screen-prints over several canvases, and as an installation mounted cleanly on a wall, giving a new meaning to "everyday" wallpaper. There is supreme beauty is the most simplest of designs, and he work strongly exemplifies that concept. |

The Hide Gallery presents new works by Telopa on May 2nd, 6 - 12. "This show is pushing me a bit, and helps remind me that I'm still digging for new depth as an artist. In Santa Cruz, people know me best, and I'll be seeing people that have supported my work locally throughout the years. In a way this show needs to be the most honest, because I'm pushing new ideas for myself and them. Showing my work is the most gratifying. Painting for hours, refining old ideas, pushing new ones, and layering the subtlety, one hopes for the few encounters where a viewer experiences the minor changes you've made. What may be a huge change for me in my art, to the casual viewer, it is sometimes undetectable. When I show in Santa Cruz, people see the small things more. |
